Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Lithuanian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Guatemala. Immigration officers rarely check for 6 months beyond your stay, but your airline might — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Guatemala
Immigration at La Aurora Airport in Guatemala City routinely asks for a return or onward ticket before they stamp you in. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight ready — they won't let you through without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Guatemalan immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from your host covers this — keep a copy handy.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers occasionally ask for proof of sufficient funds — around $500 USD or a credit card statement usually satisfies them. Have a bank statement or cash ready just in case.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity before boarding. If it's under 6 months, you won't be allowed to fly. Double-check your expiry date before booking.
No visa needed, but keep documents handy
You don't need a visa, but immigration may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Have them saved on your phone or printed.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at La Aurora International Airport (GUA)
Most travellers fly into Guatemala City. After landing, follow signs to 'Migración' (Immigration). There are separate queues for Guatemalan citizens and foreigners. Join the foreigners queue.
2
Present your passport and supporting documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Have them ready on your phone or printed. They'll stamp your passport and typically grant 90 days.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel. You'll pass through customs — a random selection system. If selected, you may need to open your bags. Otherwise, walk straight out into the arrivals hall.
