Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Liechtenstein. Since Liechtenstein is in the Schengen zone, you get 90 days within any 180-day period across all Schengen countries — not just Liechtenstein.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen zone
Immigration officers at the border may ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen area within your 90-day visa-free limit. Airlines also check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation, rental agreement, or a letter from your host ready. Border officers occasionally ask for it to confirm where you're staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry bank statements, a credit card, or cash to show you have enough money for your stay. There's no fixed minimum, but around €50–100 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
No airport in Liechtenstein
You'll enter via Switzerland or Austria. The nearest major airport is Zurich (ZRH), about 1.5 hours by train. From there, take a train to Sargans or Buchs, then a bus to Vaduz.
Schengen 90/180-day rule applies
Your 90-day allowance is shared across all Schengen countries. If you've already spent 30 days in France, you only have 60 days left for Liechtenstein and the rest of Schengen. Track your days carefully.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the Border
Liechtenstein has no airport. You'll enter via Switzerland or Austria. At the border, Swiss or Austrian officers may check your passport. If arriving by train from Zurich, you'll pass through Swiss immigration at Zurich Airport or at the border. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation ready.
2
Present Documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They might ask for your return ticket or proof of funds. Stay calm — it's routine.
3
Receive Entry Stamp
If everything is in order, you'll get an entry stamp in your passport. This stamp records your entry date and starts your 90-day Schengen clock. Check the stamp before walking away.
4
Proceed to Liechtenstein
Once through immigration, you're free to travel to Liechtenstein. There are no internal border checks between Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Just follow the road or train signs.

Frequently asked questions

No, you don't. Lithuania is an EU member and Liechtenstein is in the Schengen Area. You can stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period without a visa.
Up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This is the standard Schengen rule. If you've already spent time in other Schengen countries, that counts toward your 90 days.
Overstaying can result in a fine, a ban from the Schengen Area, or deportation. Liechtenstein takes overstays seriously. If you need to stay longer, apply for a residence permit before your 90 days expire.
Generally, no. The visa-free stay is not extendable for tourism. For longer stays (work, study, family), you need a separate permit from the Liechtenstein immigration office in Vaduz.
Your valid passport, a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation for your first night, and optionally proof of funds (bank statement or credit card). Travel insurance is wise but not mandatory.
No. There are no border controls between Switzerland and Liechtenstein. You clear immigration when entering Switzerland (at Zurich Airport or at the Swiss border), and then you're free to cross into Liechtenstein.
The Swiss Franc (CHF). Euros are sometimes accepted in tourist areas but at poor exchange rates. Use CHF for everything. ATMs dispense CHF.
