Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Ukraine. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Ukrainian law, but airlines may enforce a 3-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Border officers at Kyiv Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure within the 90-day visa-free period.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. A printed booking confirmation or a letter from a host with their address and phone number covers this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Ukraine does not enforce a fixed daily minimum, but officers may ask for bank statements or cash to confirm you can cover your stay. Carry at least €50–100 per day in cash or have a card with available balance.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Ukraine. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly.
Keep a digital copy of your documents
Save photos of your passport, entry stamp, and return ticket in your phone or email. If your passport is lost or stolen, these copies make replacement much faster.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before travel
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Print or save digital copies of your return ticket, first night accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Download an eSIM or buy a local SIM at the airport.
2
Arrive at the border or airport
At Kyiv Boryspil, Lviv, or any land border crossing, join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport and any supporting documents ready. Border officers may ask about your purpose of visit and length of stay.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry. Check the stamp is legible and shows the correct date. You are allowed to stay up to 90 days from that date.
4
Keep your documents during your stay
Carry your passport with you at all times — police can ask for ID. Keep a digital copy of your passport and visa-free entry stamp in your phone or email.
