Apply early — no visa on arrival

Yellow fever certificate may be required
If you're arriving from or transiting through a country with yellow fever (e.g., Kenya, Ethiopia), you'll need to show a valid yellow fever certificate at immigration. Even if not required, it's a good idea to have one — it's valid for life and can save you hassle.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in the application, upload your passport scan and a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing takes 2–5 business days, sometimes longer. Apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive your eVisa approval
You'll get an email with an approval letter. Print it out and keep a digital copy on your phone. The visa is usually valid for 90 days from issue, allowing a single entry and a stay of up to 90 days.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
Most flights land at Entebbe. Go to the 'Visitors' queue at immigration. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will check your details, take a fingerprint scan, and stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes if you have everything ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel, then walk through customs. There's usually no baggage check unless you're carrying something unusual. Then you're free to go.
