Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Luxembourg passport holders need a visa for Côte d'Ivoire. Apply online through the SNEDAI portal at least 5 business days before departure. The eVisa is valid for a single entry up to 90 days — processing takes 48 to 72 hours.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Luxembourg passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Côte d'Ivoire. Airlines at Luxembourg Airport will check this before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of exit
Immigration officers at Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Airport in Abidjan routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Côte d'Ivoire. Immigration may ask for it at the border, especially if you're staying more than a few days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least 500,000 CFA francs (roughly €760) for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it's better to have proof ready.Recommended
Cash only at the airport
The visa fee at the airport must be paid in cash — euros or West African CFA francs (XOF). There are ATMs after immigration, but they may not work with all cards. Bring enough cash to cover the fee (around €70–€100).
Print your visa approval
You'll need a printed copy of the visa approval email to show at check-in and at the airport visa desk. A digital copy on your phone is not enough — print it before you leave.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the visa online
Go to the official e-visa portal (snedai.com) and fill out the application. Upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online. Processing takes 2–5 business days.
2
Receive your visa approval
You'll get an approval email with a PDF. Print it and keep a copy on your phone. You'll need to show it at the airport check-in counter.
3
Arrive at Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport (ABJ)
After landing, go to the 'Visa on Arrival' desk (even though you pre-applied). Present your printed approval, passport, and return ticket. They'll take your fingerprints and issue the visa sticker. Pay the visa fee in cash (EUR or XOF) — around €70–€100 depending on duration.
4
Pass through immigration
After getting the sticker, proceed to the immigration counter. Hand over your passport with the sticker, boarding pass, and return ticket. They'll stamp you in. Keep the immigration slip they give you — you'll need it when leaving.

No. You must apply online at snedai.com before you travel. The 'visa on arrival' process at the airport is just the final step — they won't issue a visa without the pre-approval.
If you stay airside and don't pass through immigration, you don't need a visa. But if you leave the airport or have a long layover where you need to enter the country, you must have the visa.
No. The visa is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must leave the country and re-apply for a new visa from abroad.
Your passport (valid 6+ months), the printed visa approval, your return/onward ticket, and proof of accommodation for the first night. Have them ready in your hand before you reach the counter.
It's not officially required, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in Côte d'Ivoire can be high, and insurance covers evacuation if needed.
