Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Fiji
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity remaining from the day you leave Fiji. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Carry a photocopy of the bio-data page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Fiji
Immigration officers at Nadi Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. A flight booking confirmation or e-ticket showing you leave within 120 days works. Without it, you may be refused entry and put on the next flight out.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed or digital hotel reservation, hostel booking, or a letter of invitation from your host in Fiji. Officers rarely ask for it, but if they do and you have nothing, expect extra questioning at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least FJD 500 (approx. €210) per week of your stay. Immigration may ask for it if you look under-resourced or have no return ticket. A recent statement from your bank on your phone is fine.Recommended
Biosecurity is strict
Fiji fines heavily for undeclared food, plants, or animal products. If in doubt, declare it. Even a forgotten apple in your bag can cost you 400 FJD.
No visa needed, but be prepared
You don't need to apply for anything before travel. Just show up with a valid passport, return ticket, and accommodation booking. The 120-day stay is generous.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Nadi or Suva airport
You'll go through immigration at Nadi International Airport (most common) or Suva's Nausori Airport. Join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket (screenshot or print), and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp you in for up to 120 days. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes.
2
Customs and biosecurity
After immigration, collect your luggage and proceed to customs. Fiji is strict about biosecurity: declare any food, plants, or animal products. If you're unsure, declare it — fines for undeclared items can be steep. There's a 'nothing to declare' lane if you have no restricted items.
3
Getting connected
Once through customs, you can buy a local SIM at Vodafone or Digicel kiosks in the arrivals hall. If you pre-ordered an eSIM, it'll activate automatically. Taxis and hotel shuttles are available outside the terminal.
