Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Kyrgyzstan. Airlines at check-in may enforce a 6-month validity rule, but Kyrgyz immigration only requires it to cover your stay.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kyrgyzstan
Immigration officers at Manas International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, not having it can slow things down at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to at least $50 USD per day of your stay. Kyrgyzstan doesn't strictly enforce this for Luxembourg passport holders, but it's smart to have evidence.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to fly.
No visa needed, but be prepared
While there's no visa, immigration officers may ask for proof of onward travel and accommodation. Have these ready on your phone or printed. It's rare but happens.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Manas International Airport (Bishkek)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for Kyrgyz citizens and foreigners. Join the 'Foreign Passports' line.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your passport (with at least 6 months validity and 1 blank page) and your boarding pass. The officer will check your details and may ask about your return ticket or accommodation.
3
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (60 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If the date is wrong, ask for a correction immediately.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
