Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Oman eVisa at the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal before departure. The eVisa is valid for 30 days from issue and allows a single entry. Processing takes 1–3 business days, so apply at least a week ahead.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Luxembourg passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Oman. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers in Muscat routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket ready. Without one, you risk being refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a confirmed hotel reservation or a letter from your Omani host. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A simple booking confirmation printout works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing sufficient funds for your trip. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to demonstrate at least 50 OMR (~130 USD) per day of stay.Recommended
Visa on arrival is straightforward
Luxembourg passport holders get a 30-day visa on arrival at all Omani airports and land borders. No prior application needed. Just show up with a valid passport, return ticket, and accommodation booking.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied travel.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the visa-on-arrival counter
At Muscat International Airport (MCT), follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' after baggage claim. Join the queue, present your passport and return ticket. The officer will issue a 30-day visa sticker. Pay the fee (20 OMR, about €48) by credit card or cash. The process takes 10–15 minutes.
2
Get your passport stamped
After payment, the officer stamps your passport and hands you the visa sticker. Check the validity dates before leaving the counter. Then proceed to immigration control for the final entry stamp.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. No arrival declaration is needed for standard tourist items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
