Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Serbia. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required by Serbian law, but airlines may check for at least 3 months validity.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Serbia
Immigration officers may ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave Serbia within the 90-day visa-free period. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel reservation, Airbnb confirmation, or a letter of invitation from your host in Serbia. Border officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have access to at least €50 per day of your stay, either in cash, bank statements, or credit cards. Officers rarely check this for Luxembourg passport holders, but it's safer to have evidence.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Serbia, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you travel.
Overstaying is not worth it
The 90-day visa-free stay is not extendable. Overstaying can lead to fines and a re-entry ban. Mark your exit date on your calendar.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
At Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport or any land border crossing, join the queue for non-Serbian passports. Have your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation) ready. The officer will stamp your passport with a 90-day entry stamp. The process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
2
Prepare for potential questions
The officer may ask how long you plan to stay and where you're staying. Answer clearly. If you have a return ticket, show it. If you're staying with friends, give their address. No need to volunteer extra info.
3
Exit Serbia before day 90
Count your days from the entry stamp. You must leave Serbia before midnight on day 90. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban. Keep a note on your phone of your entry date.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave before day 90. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a temporary residence permit from a Serbian embassy before you travel — that's a separate process.
Overstaying can result in a fine (typically around 50–200 EUR) and a ban from re-entering Serbia for a period. The exact penalty depends on how long you overstay. Best to avoid it entirely.
No. Luxembourg passport holders do not need a visa for transit through Serbia, as long as you stay within the airport transit area and don't enter the country. If you leave the airport, you'll need to follow the same visa-free rules (90 days).
Technically, the visa-free regime is for tourism and business visits only. Remote work for a non-Serbian employer is a grey area. Many digital nomads do it, but officially you'd need a work permit or a digital nomad visa. Serbia does offer a digital nomad visa for stays up to 1 year — check with the Serbian embassy if you plan to work long-term.
Your passport (valid 6+ months), a return or onward ticket (screenshot is fine), and proof of first-night accommodation (hotel booking or host's address). Travel insurance is not required but strongly recommended. Keep everything easily accessible in your hand luggage.
Yes. If you want to stay longer than 90 days, you need to apply for a temporary residence permit at a Serbian embassy or consulate before you travel. This is a separate application with different requirements (proof of income, health insurance, etc.). The visa-free stay cannot be converted to a residence permit from within Serbia.
The currency is the Serbian dinar (RSD). Euros are widely accepted in tourist areas but you'll get a better rate using dinars. ATMs are common in cities. Bring some euros to exchange at the airport or a bank — avoid exchanging on the street.
