Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Luxembourg passport needs to be valid only for the time you plan to stay in Tuvalu. Airlines may still ask for 6 months validity beyond your departure date — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Funafuti International Airport will ask for a return or onward ticket before they stamp you in. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. A printed booking confirmation or a letter from a host in Tuvalu covers this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
You may be asked to show you have enough cash or card access for your stay. A bank statement or credit card with a reasonable limit works fine.Recommended
Strict 6-month passport validity
Tuvalu enforces the 6-month passport validity rule strictly. If your passport expires within 6 months of your entry date, you will be denied boarding by your airline or refused entry at the border. Renew before you go.
Limited connectivity
Internet and mobile coverage in Tuvalu is limited and expensive. An eSIM from Airalo works on arrival, but speeds may be slow. Download offline maps and essential documents before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Funafuti International Airport
You'll land at the only international airport in Tuvalu. After deplaning, walk to the immigration hall — it's a small building. There's usually one queue for all passengers.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation booking). The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. No forms to fill out beforehand.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a visa-free entry valid for up to 90 days. Check the stamp says the correct date before leaving the counter.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel (if any) and walk through customs. There's no arrival declaration form required.
