Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for your entire stay in Cyprus
Your Latvian passport only needs to be valid for the duration of your stay in Cyprus. Since Cyprus is not in the Schengen Area, the 90/180-day rule does not apply here — you can stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Airlines at RIX may still ask for 6 months validity, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cyprus
Immigration officers at Larnaca and Paphos airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. A bus or ferry ticket to Greece or Israel also works if you're continuing overland.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from a friend in Cyprus ready. A simple printout or phone screenshot works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Border officers can ask for proof of sufficient funds. Carry at least €50–€100 per day of your stay in cash or a credit card statement. I've never been asked for this as a Latvian, but it's in the regulations.Recommended
Cyprus is not in Schengen — but rules are similar
Even though Cyprus is not part of the Schengen Area, the 90/180-day rule applies. Your days in Cyprus count toward your total Schengen stay if you also visit Schengen countries. Keep track of your days.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Cyprus requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding or entry. Check your passport now.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at passport control
At Larnaca or Paphos airport, join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport ready. The officer will check your passport validity and may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport. If asked, show your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer questions about your stay (purpose, duration, where you're staying). Keep answers brief and honest.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date. Check the stamp is legible before walking away. This stamp records your 90-day allowance.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There are no additional visa-related steps. You're free to enter Cyprus.
