Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Latvian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Kosovo. No minimum validity beyond your stay is required by Kosovo authorities, but airlines may enforce a 3-month rule — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kosovo
Immigration at Pristina Airport regularly asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave within the 90-day visa-free period.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their address is enough.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Kosovo doesn't publish a minimum amount, but having around €50–100 per day in cash or on a card covers you if asked.Recommended
Kosovo uses the Euro
Even though Kosovo is not in the EU, the official currency is the Euro (EUR). You can use euros from ATMs or exchange money at banks. Credit cards are accepted in most hotels and larger restaurants, but cash is king in smaller shops and rural areas.
Border crossing with Serbia
If you plan to enter Kosovo from Serbia, note that Serbia does not recognise Kosovo's independence. You must enter Kosovo through an official border crossing (like Merdare or Jarinje). Do not attempt to enter via Serbia without proper documentation—you could be denied entry or fined.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Pristina International Airport
Most travellers fly into Pristina (PRN). After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for EU/EEA and other nationals. As a Latvian passport holder, use the EU/EEA line.
2
Present your passport
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your photo, validity, and may ask how long you're staying. Answer honestly (e.g., '10 days'). They may also ask for your return ticket—have it ready on your phone.
3
Receive entry stamp
If everything is fine, you'll get an entry stamp in your passport. That stamp shows your allowed stay (usually 90 days). Keep the stamp visible—you'll need it when leaving.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, go to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
