Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Libyan passport holders need an eVisa to enter Ecuador. Apply at the Ecuador Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal at least 2 weeks before your trip. Upload your passport scan, photo, and flight itinerary — processing takes 5–10 business days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Ecuador. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of exit from Ecuador
Immigration officers at Quito and Guayaquil airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Ecuador ready — they will check the date matches your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have your first night's hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Ecuador ready. Immigration rarely asks for it, but budget airlines flying into Ecuador sometimes check at check-in.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a bank statement showing at least $500 USD or have a credit card with sufficient limit. Immigration officers may ask how you plan to fund your stay — a printed statement avoids delays.Recommended
eVisa required — no exceptions
Libyan passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Ecuador. You must have the eVisa approved before you fly. Airlines check this at check-in.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Ecuador, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Ecuadorian government eVisa portal. Fill in your personal details, upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50–$100 depending on nationality) and submit. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a copy and also save it to your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Quito or Guayaquil airport
At immigration, hand over your passport and printed eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation confirmation. They'll stamp your passport and let you through.
