Visa on arrival
Libyan passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Jordanian airports and land borders. The fee is 40 JOD (about $56 USD) for a single-entry visa valid for 30 days. Have cash in Jordanian dinars or USD ready — the visa counter does not accept cards.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Jordan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Return ticket
Immigration officers at Queen Alia International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking
Border officers may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from a host in Jordan ready to show.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
You should be able to show you have enough money for your stay — around 50 JOD ($70 USD) per day is a safe benchmark. A credit card or a bank statement on your phone usually satisfies the officer.Recommended
Visa on arrival is straightforward
Libyan passport holders don't need to apply in advance. Just show up with a valid passport, cash for the fee, and a return ticket. The process at Queen Alia Airport usually takes under 30 minutes.
Cash only for visa fee
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash. ATMs are available after immigration, but it's much smoother to have 40 JOD (or equivalent USD) in your pocket before you queue.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at immigration
After landing at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) or arriving at a land border like the King Hussein Bridge, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters. There's usually a separate queue.
2
Fill out the arrival card
You'll get a small white card on the plane or at the counter. Fill in your name, passport number, flight number, and hotel address. Keep it with your passport.
3
Pay the visa fee
Hand your passport and the arrival card to the immigration officer. They'll tell you the fee — pay in cash (JOD or USD accepted at some counters). You'll receive a receipt and a visa sticker in your passport.
4
Proceed to baggage claim
Once stamped, you're free to enter. Collect your luggage and exit through customs. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, you can get a visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport (Amman), Aqaba Airport, and all land borders including the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby) from the West Bank, and the Jaber and Ramtha crossings from Syria. The process is the same — pay the fee, get the stamp.
The standard single-entry visa costs 40 Jordanian Dinar (about 56 USD). Double-entry and multiple-entry visas are also available but cost more — around 60 JOD and 120 JOD respectively. Cash only, and they prefer JOD.
The visa on arrival is typically valid for 30 days. You can extend it once at a police station or the Immigration Department in Amman for an additional 30 days. The extension fee is about 20 JOD.
If you're transiting and staying airside (not leaving the airport), you don't need a visa. But if you plan to leave the airport — even for a few hours — you'll need a visa on arrival. The same rules apply.
Technically, immigration can ask for proof of onward travel. In practice, it's rarely checked for visa-on-arrival passengers, but it's risky to not have one. If you're denied entry, you'll be sent back on the next flight at your own expense.
You will be denied entry. Jordan strictly enforces the 6-month passport validity rule. If your passport is close to expiring, renew it before you travel.
Yes, you can extend it once for an additional 30 days. Visit the Immigration Department in Amman (near the 7th Circle) or any police station. The extension costs about 20 JOD and takes a few hours. You'll need your passport, a passport photo, and the visa fee.
