What happens at the border

1
Complete the online eVisa application
Go to the official Sierra Leone eVisa website, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the visa fee (typically around $100–$150, depending on processing speed). Submit the form and wait for the approval email.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa document. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show this at check-in and at immigration in Freetown.
3
Arrive at Lungi International Airport (FRE)
After landing, follow the signs to immigration. Have your passport, eVisa, yellow fever certificate, and return ticket ready. The officer will check your documents, stamp your passport, and let you through. Expect a short queue; the process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. If you have nothing to declare, you can exit directly. Be aware of unofficial 'helpers' — use official taxi services or pre-arranged transfers.
