Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Apply online before travel
Moroccan passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Nigerian airports, but pre-approval through the Nigeria Immigration Service portal is strongly recommended. Start your application at portal.immigration.gov.ng at least 2 weeks before travel. Without pre-approval, you risk being denied boarding by your airline.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Nigeria. Airlines at Casablanca and Marrakech will check this before issuing a boarding pass. Carry a photocopy of the bio-data page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Nigeria
Immigration officers at Lagos and Abuja airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. If you plan to leave overland, have a bus or flight booking out of Nigeria ready. Airlines also check this before departure from Morocco.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your Nigerian host ready. Immigration may ask for the address where you'll stay during the visa on arrival process. A booking on Booking.com or Airbnb works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds for your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but having it ready avoids delays. ATMs in Nigeria dispense local currency (naira), but exchange rates at airports are poor.Recommended
Cash is king at the visa desk
The visa fee must be paid in cash (USD or Naira). Credit cards are not accepted at most airports. Bring crisp, undamaged US dollars to avoid rejection.
Pre-register to save time
While not mandatory, you can pre-register on the Nigeria Immigration Service website (visa.immigration.gov.ng) before arrival. This can cut the airport queue time significantly.

What happens at the border

3
Receive your visa sticker
An immigration officer will stamp a visa sticker into your passport. Check the validity dates before leaving the counter.
4
Proceed to passport control
Show your passport with the new visa to the passport control officer. They may ask about your stay — answer clearly.
5
