Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cameroon. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required

Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they may scan the barcode.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Cameroon. Officers sometimes ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds

Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (CFA francs or USD) to cover your stay. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself — show at least $100 per day of your trip.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
Cameroon requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers. Get the vaccine at least 10 days before travel and carry your yellow card. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (at your own cost).
eVisa processing times vary
Apply at least 2 weeks before departure. Some applications are approved in 3 days, others take the full 7 business days. Don't wait until the last minute.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website (evisacameroon.com). Fill out the application form, upload a passport photo and a copy of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $75–$100 depending on processing speed). Submit and wait for approval — typically 3–7 business days.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive an email with your eVisa. Print a copy and also save the PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Cameroon.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Before heading to the airport, gather: passport (6+ months validity), printed eVisa, return/onward ticket, first night hotel booking confirmation, and travel insurance (if you have it). Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Yaoundé Nsimalen or Douala International Airport
Most flights from Madagascar arrive via Addis Ababa or Nairobi. At immigration, present your passport and eVisa. The officer will stamp you in. Have your return ticket and hotel confirmation ready in case they ask.
