From 2026, Madagascar passport holders need an eVisa to enter Togo. Apply online before you travel — there's no visa on arrival. The process is straightforward, but you'll need a few documents ready.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Togo eVisa
Apply online at evisa.gouv.tg before you fly. The eVisa is valid for single entry and allows stays up to 30 days. Processing takes 2–3 business days — don't wait until the last minute.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Togo. Airlines at departure check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Togo
Immigration officers at Lomé–Tokoin Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Without one, you may be refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Togo. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to roughly 100,000 CFA (~$165) per day of your stay. Immigration may ask to see it if you look underprepared.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
Togo requires a yellow fever vaccination certificate for all travellers. Without it, you may be denied entry or quarantined. Get the shot at least 10 days before you travel.
Keep your eVisa approval handy
Print a copy and save the PDF on your phone. You'll need it at immigration and possibly at hotel check-ins. Don't rely on having internet access to pull it up.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (30,000 XOF, roughly €45) with a credit card. Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the approval by email.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, print a copy and also save the PDF on your phone. Immigration at Lomé–Tokoin Airport will ask to see it before they stamp you in.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
At the airport, queue at immigration. Have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer may ask for proof of funds — have a bank statement or cash handy just in case.
4
Clear immigration and collect luggage
After the stamp, go to baggage claim. The process usually takes 30–60 minutes. Keep your eVisa approval with you for the duration of your stay — you may need it for hotel check-ins.
