Apply early — processing times vary
The official e-Visa site says 3–5 business days, but we've seen cases where it takes a week or more. Apply at least 10 days before departure to avoid last-minute stress.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for e-Visa online
Go to the official Egyptian visa website (visa2egypt.gov.eg) and fill out the application. Upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-sized photo. Pay the fee online with a credit card. Processing takes 3–5 business days, sometimes longer — apply at least a week before your flight.
2
Receive and print your e-Visa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print two copies — one to hand to immigration, one as backup. Also save a digital copy on your phone.
3
Prepare documents for arrival
Before you queue at immigration in Cairo or any other Egyptian airport, have your passport, printed e-Visa, return ticket, and hotel booking confirmation ready. Keep them in a single folder for quick access.
4
Go through immigration
At the immigration counter, hand over your passport and e-Visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer clearly. After stamping, you're free to enter. The whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes.
