Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Mongolia eVisa at evisa.mn. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Mongolia. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Mongolia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. A flight reservation or bus/train booking out of Mongolia works. Without one, you may be denied boarding or entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Mongolia ready. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, a printed booking or digital copy on your phone suffices.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry cash (USD or MNT) or a bank statement showing at least $50 per day of stay. Immigration rarely checks, but budget airlines may ask at check-in.Recommended
eVisa required before travel
You cannot get a visa on arrival at the airport. Apply online at evisa.mn at least a week before your flight.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Mongolia, not from your departure date. Double-check before you apply.
