What happens at the border

1
Complete Check-Mig online
Go to migracioncolombia.gov.co and fill out the Check-Mig form within 72 hours of your flight. You'll need your passport details, flight info, and address in Colombia. Save the confirmation (PDF or screenshot) — you'll need it at check-in and on arrival.
2
At the airport in Mongolia (or your departure point)
When checking in, the airline will verify your passport validity and may ask to see your Check-Mig confirmation. Make sure you have it accessible on your phone or printed.
3
Arrival at Colombian airport (Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, etc.)
Follow the 'Pasaportes' or 'Foreigners' signs. Present your passport and Check-Mig confirmation to the immigration officer. They may ask simple questions about your stay (how long, where). You'll receive a stamp allowing up to 90 days.
4
Keep your entry stamp safe
Your entry stamp shows the date you must leave by. Don't lose it — you'll need it if you extend or when you exit. If you need to extend your stay, you must apply before the 90 days are up (but note: extensions are generally not granted for visa-free entries).

Frequently asked questions

No, you don't. Mongolian citizens can enter Colombia visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism or business. Just meet the passport validity and Check-Mig requirements.
Generally, no. The visa-free entry is for 90 days and is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to leave Colombia and re-enter (but note that doing this repeatedly may raise questions). For longer stays, you'd need to apply for a proper visa at a Colombian embassy before traveling.
Check-Mig is a mandatory online form required for all travelers entering Colombia. You must complete it within 72 hours before your flight. Go to migracioncolombia.gov.co, fill in your personal details, flight information, and address in Colombia. It's free. After submitting, you'll get a confirmation — save it as a PDF or screenshot. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration.
You may be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry by Colombian immigration. It's a strict requirement — don't skip it. If you arrive without it, you'll be asked to fill it out on the spot, but you may face delays or fines.
No, there's no visa fee. The Check-Mig form is also free. However, some airlines may charge for baggage or other services — that's separate.
No. The visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, or short visits. You cannot take up employment or get paid by a Colombian company. For work, you need a work visa obtained from a Colombian embassy before arrival.
You'll likely be denied boarding by the airline and entry by Colombian immigration. Renew your passport before traveling. There are no exceptions for this rule.
