Mongolian passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Egyptian airports and land borders. This is the standard entry method for tourism — no need to apply in advance. As of 2026, the process is straightforward but requires a few documents ready at the counter.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Get your visa on arrival at Egyptian airports and land borders. Have $25 USD in cash ready for a single-entry 30-day visa. You'll fill out a small form at the bank counter before immigration.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Egypt
Egypt enforces the 6-month validity rule strictly. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. Two blank pages are required for the visa sticker and entry stamp.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration officers at Cairo and Hurghada airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. If you're flying out to a third country, that ticket works too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask for your hotel reservation or a letter from your host. Have a printed booking confirmation or a digital copy on your phone. If staying with friends, a simple invitation letter with their address and phone number works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or card showing you can support yourself
Officers rarely ask, but having $1,000 USD equivalent in cash or a credit card statement avoids problems. ATMs are widely available in cities but less so at border crossings.Recommended
Cash is king at the visa counter
The visa-on-arrival counter only accepts cash — no cards. Bring USD 25 in crisp, unfolded bills. Euros or pounds are also accepted, but US dollars are easiest.
No extension available
The visa on arrival is strictly 30 days, single entry, and cannot be extended. If you overstay, you'll be fined EGP 100 per day. Plan your exit accordingly.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the visa-on-arrival counter
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Bank' before passport control. At Cairo Airport, there's a bank kiosk where you buy a visa sticker for USD 25. Pay in cash (USD, EUR, or GBP). They'll give you a stamp-sized sticker.
2
Affix the sticker to your passport
Peel the sticker and place it on a blank page in your passport. Some counters will do this for you, but it's quick to do yourself. Don't cover any existing stamps or the photo page.
3
Proceed to immigration
Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport (with the sticker), your boarding pass, and your return ticket if asked. The officer will stamp you in. Usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's no arrival form to fill out for most tourists. You're free to exit.
