Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Kyrgyzstan. Airlines at check-in will verify this before letting you board.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kyrgyzstan
Immigration officers at Manas International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have at least $50 USD per day available in cash or on a card. Immigration may ask to see it, especially if you arrive without a return ticket.Recommended
No visa needed for 90 days
Mongolian passport holders can enter Kyrgyzstan visa-free for up to 90 days. No application, no fee, no embassy visit. Just show up with your passport.
Overstay = trouble
The 90-day stay is not extendable. Overstaying can lead to fines and a re-entry ban. Set a reminder to leave before day 90.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Manas International Airport (Bishkek)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for Kyrgyz citizens and foreigners. Join the foreigner queue.
2
Present your passport and ticket
Hand over your passport and, if asked, your return/onward ticket. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. This usually takes 1-2 minutes.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have nothing to declare. You're now in Kyrgyzstan.

Frequently asked questions

No. The 90-day stay is not extendable. You must leave Kyrgyzstan before day 90. Overstaying can result in fines and a ban from re-entry.
For stays under 90 days, no registration is required. If you plan to stay longer (which you can't on a visa-free entry), you'd need to register. But for a standard trip, you're fine.
You can't extend the visa-free period. You'd need to leave Kyrgyzstan and re-enter, but immigration may question frequent back-to-back visits. For longer stays, apply for a visa at a Kyrgyz embassy before you travel.
No. The visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, and short visits only. Working (paid or unpaid) requires a work visa.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll likely be fined (around 1,000–5,000 KGS depending on the duration) and could be banned from re-entering for up to a year. Don't risk it.
No. If you're just changing planes at Manas Airport and staying airside, you don't need a visa. But if you need to enter the country (e.g., to catch a connecting flight the next day), the visa-free rules apply.
No. Departure tax is included in your airline ticket. You don't need to pay anything extra at the airport.
