Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Mongolian passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone does not officially require 6 months of remaining validity, but airlines may enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Freetown International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready to show at the border.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Sierra Leone. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have access to at least $200 USD in cash or a credit card for your stay. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself, especially if you have no return ticket.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate is mandatory
You must carry your yellow fever vaccination card (the 'yellow card') when entering Sierra Leone. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
eVisa is digital — print it
The eVisa is sent as a PDF. Print a physical copy and also save it on your phone. Airport Wi-Fi can be unreliable, so don't rely on downloading it there.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Sierra Leone eVisa portal. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit card. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days, but can be faster.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print at least one copy and save a digital version on your phone. You'll need to show it at the immigration counter at Lungi International Airport in Freetown.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Before you land, have your passport, eVisa printout, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. Immigration officers at Lungi Airport will check these. Keep them in your hand luggage, not checked bags.
4
Arrive and go through immigration
At Lungi Airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport, eVisa, and boarding pass. The officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Answer clearly. You'll get an entry stamp — check the date is correct before leaving the counter.
