Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Uganda eVisa
Apply online at the Uganda eVisa portal before you fly. Choose single-entry ($50 USD) or multiple-entry ($100 USD) — processing takes 2–3 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to show at Entebbe immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your Mongolian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Uganda. Airlines at Chinggis Khaan International will check this before letting you board.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uganda
Immigration officers at Entebbe routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Officers sometimes ask for it during the visa-on-arrival process or at the immigration desk.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you have at least $300 USD available for your trip. Immigration can ask for proof of sufficient funds at the border.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Mongolian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Uganda. You must have the eVisa approved before you fly. Airlines check this at check-in. If you don't have it, you won't board.
Keep your eVisa approval accessible
Print a copy and save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in, at immigration, and possibly at the airline gate. A screenshot is fine, but a printed copy is more reliable if your phone dies.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in the application, upload your passport photo and passport data page, and pay the fee (around $50 USD for a tourist visa). Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive an approval email.
2
Print or save eVisa approval
Once approved, print a copy of the eVisa approval letter. Also save a PDF on your phone as backup. You'll need to show it at airport check-in and at Uganda immigration.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
Most flights arrive at Entebbe. After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Visitors with eVisa'. Present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Keep the arrival card they give you.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. There's a customs checkpoint on the way out — declare any expensive electronics or large amounts of cash. Then you're free to exit.
