Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Ghana
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from the day you leave Ghana. Airlines at Malta International Airport check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa-on-arrival entry
Immigration officers at Kotoka ask for a confirmed onward ticket before stamping your visa on arrival. Have a printed copy of your return flight or a bus/train ticket to a neighboring country — a screenshot on your phone works too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Ghana. Immigration may ask for it at the visa-on-arrival counter, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement showing sufficient funds for your stay
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a recent bank statement showing you can cover your trip. Immigration officers occasionally ask for proof of funds, especially for longer stays.Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash (USD or GHS). No credit cards, no mobile money. Bring enough cash to cover the fee and any unexpected expenses.
Yellow fever certificate required
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (Yellow Card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot at your own expense.
