Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Cameroon. Apply at the official eVisa portal at least 7 days before departure. The application asks for a passport scan, a passport photo, and your flight itinerary. Approval usually takes 3–5 business days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Cameroon. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Yaoundé and Douala airports routinely ask for a printed or digital onward ticket showing you leave Cameroon within your visa validity. Have a copy ready on your phone or printed.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Cameroon. Officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you have at least 500 USD (or equivalent) for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it helps if you look under-prepared.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have a yellow fever vaccination at least 10 days before travel and carry the yellow card. Without it, you may be denied entry or quarantined at the airport.
Print your eVisa
Immigration officers will not accept a digital copy on your phone. Print the eVisa PDF and keep it with your passport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website (evisacameroon.com). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit card. Processing takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF. Print it out.
2
Pack your documents
Before heading to the airport, gather: printed eVisa, passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket (screenshot or print), first night hotel booking, and travel insurance if you have it. Keep them in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
At immigration, hand over your passport and printed eVisa. The officer will check your passport validity and may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. You'll get an entry stamp valid for the duration of your eVisa.
4
Activate your eSIM or buy local SIM
If you have an Airalo eSIM, it activates automatically when you land. Otherwise, buy a local SIM at the airport kiosk (MTN or Orange). You'll need your passport for registration.
