Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an approved eVisa before boarding. Apply at the official Gabon eVisa portal — processing takes 3 to 7 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your Mexican passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity beyond your intended departure date from Gabon. Two blank pages are needed for entry and exit stamps.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Libreville International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel bookings or a letter of invitation from your host in Gabon can speed up the immigration process. Officers may ask where you are staying during your visit.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry evidence of sufficient funds for your stay — bank statements or a credit card with a reasonable limit. Gabon is a cash-heavy country, so have some CFA francs (XAF) on arrival for taxis and incidentals.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
Gabon requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travelers. Without the yellow card, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (and pay a fee). Get the shot at least 10 days before you fly.
Local currency and cash
Gabon uses the Central African CFA franc (XAF). Credit cards are accepted in major hotels and restaurants in Libreville, but cash is king everywhere else. Bring enough CFA francs or USD/EUR to exchange. ATMs are limited outside the capital.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.ga and fill out the application. You'll need a digital copy of your passport bio page, a passport-style photo, and your travel details. Pay the fee with a credit card. Processing usually takes 3–7 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get the eVisa by email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Gabon.
3
Arrive at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
Most flights land at Léon-Mba International Airport in Libreville. After deplaning, follow signs to immigration. Have your passport, eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will stamp your passport and you're in.
4
Exit immigration and collect luggage
After the stamp, proceed to baggage claim. There's usually a customs check — declare any large amounts of cash or restricted items. Then you're free to exit.
