Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Mexican passport needs to be valid only for the dates you plan to be in Ireland. Airlines sometimes ask for 6 months validity beyond your departure date — check with your carrier before you fly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ireland
Immigration officers at Dublin and Shannon routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking out of Ireland or the Common Travel Area (UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man).Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation, hostel booking, or a letter from your host with their address and contact number. Officers at border control occasionally ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough money for your stay. Immigration can ask how you'll cover accommodation, food, and transport — a daily budget of roughly €50–€70 per person is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Overstaying is serious
Even one day over 90 can get you flagged. Ireland shares immigration data with the UK and Schengen countries. Overstays can lead to a 1-5 year ban from the entire Common Travel Area.
Common Travel Area (CTA)
Ireland, the UK, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands form the CTA. Once you're admitted to Ireland, you can travel freely to the UK without additional checks. But you still need to leave the CTA before day 90.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Dublin Airport (or other port of entry)
Most Mexican travelers fly into Dublin Airport (DUB). Follow signs to 'Non-EU Passports' — that's your queue. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation details ready.
2
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will likely ask: purpose of visit, how long you're staying, where you're staying, and when you're leaving. Answer clearly and honestly. They may ask for your return ticket and accommodation proof.
3
Get your entry stamp
If everything checks out, the officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before walking away — make sure the dates are correct.
4
Collect luggage and proceed to arrivals
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then through customs (green channel for most tourists). You're in.
