Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Russia eVisa
Apply for a Russia eVisa at evisa.kdmid.ru before you travel. The eVisa allows a single entry for up to 16 days. Processing takes up to 4 calendar days — apply at least a week before your flight to be safe.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Original passport
Your Mexican passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Russia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Russian airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure from Russia within the eVisa's 16-day validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
You may be asked to show a hotel reservation or a host's invitation letter (if staying privately). Keep a printed confirmation or digital copy on your phone — officers at passport control sometimes request it.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Russian law requires visitors to show they can support themselves — roughly 500–1,000 RUB per day. Carry a recent bank statement or credit card showing available funds, though officers rarely ask for it in practice.Recommended
eVisa is single entry only
The eVisa allows only one entry. If you leave Russia (even for a day trip), you cannot re-enter with the same eVisa. Plan your itinerary accordingly.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Russia, not from your departure date. Double-check before applying.

What happens at the border

1

Receive your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa. Print a copy and save a screenshot on your phone. The eVisa is linked to your passport number.
3
Prepare your documents
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport, eVisa printout, return ticket, accommodation confirmation, and travel insurance. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
