Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Malaysian passport holders get a 14-day visa on arrival at Bahrain International Airport. Pay 5 BHD (about $13 USD) in cash at the immigration counter — they accept Bahraini dinars, US dollars, or euros. No advance application needed.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Bahrain. Airlines at Kuala Lumpur International Airport check this before boarding — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration officers at Bahrain International Airport ask for a confirmed onward or return flight ticket. Budget carriers like AirAsia and flydubai enforce this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed hotel reservation or a letter from your host in Bahrain ready. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a return ticket.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry at least 300 BHD ($800 USD) in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Officers rarely check this for Malaysian passport holders, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
Visa on arrival is not guaranteed
While Malaysian passport holders are eligible, the final decision rests with the immigration officer. Have all documents ready and be polite. If you have a criminal record or previous overstay, you may be denied.
Cash is king at the counter
Card machines can occasionally be down. Bring at least 10 BHD (about $27 USD) in cash to cover the visa fee. USD is widely accepted, but you'll get change in BHD.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Bahrain International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Visa on Arrival' counters. These are clearly marked and separate from the main immigration queues for pre-approved visa holders.
2
Present documents and pay fee
Hand over your passport, return ticket (if asked), and accommodation details. Pay the visa fee — cash (BHD or USD) or card accepted. The officer will process your visa and stamp your passport.
3
Proceed to immigration
Once stamped, join the main immigration queue. Show your passport with the new visa stamp. You'll be let through to baggage claim.
