Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
You need an eVisa to enter the UAE. Apply through the ICA Smart Services portal at least a few days before travel. The eVisa is linked to your passport number — print the approval letter and carry it with you.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the full duration of your stay in the UAE. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at UAE airports ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. If you cannot show one, you may be refused entry or held for questioning. Book a refundable ticket if your plans are uncertain.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation or a letter from your host in the UAE ready. Officers sometimes ask for it at the counter — not having one can delay your entry.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough money for your stay. UAE immigration does not always ask, but if they do, you need to show at least AED 3,000–5,000 or equivalent.Recommended
eVisa required — no visa on arrival
Mozambican passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in the UAE. You must apply for an eVisa online before you travel. Without an approved eVisa, you will be denied boarding.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in the UAE, not from your departure date. Double-check before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the ICA smart services portal (smartservices.ica.gov.ae) and submit your eVisa application. Upload a clear copy of your passport bio page and a recent passport-style photo. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print at least two copies — one for your carry-on, one as backup. Immigration at Dubai or Abu Dhabi airports will scan the barcode.
3
Prepare documents for immigration
At the immigration counter, hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer may ask for your hotel address. Keep your phone screenshot of the booking ready.
4
Proceed to baggage claim and exit
After the immigration stamp, collect your luggage and walk through customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Then you're free to exit the arrivals hall.
