Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Albania eVisa at the official Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal. Processing takes 5–10 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — border officers will stamp it on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Mozambique passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Albania. Albania does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but your airline may enforce it — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Border officers at Tirana International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your exit from Albania or the Schengen zone.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Carry a hotel confirmation, Airbnb receipt, or a letter from your host with their address and contact number.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least €50–€100 per day of your trip.Recommended
eVisa is for tourism only
The Albanian eVisa is valid for tourism, business meetings, or family visits. If you plan to work or study, you need a different visa type — apply at the Albanian embassy in Maputo.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Albania, not from when you apply. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Albanian eVisa portal (e-visa.al). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around €30-50 depending on processing speed). Submit and wait for the approval email — usually 2-5 business days.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at Albanian border control.
3
Arrive at Tirana International Airport (TIA)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Non-EU queues can be long — expect 20-40 minutes. Hand over your passport and eVisa printout. The officer may ask about your accommodation and return ticket. Answer clearly and briefly.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If anything looks wrong, ask politely.
