Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Cameroon. Apply at the official eVisa portal — processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. Without one, you risk being refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Cameroon. Officers may ask where you are staying — having a printed booking avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or cash equivalent to at least 100,000 CFA (~$165) per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you have enough money.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show your yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport at your own expense. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save PDFs of your eVisa, passport, return ticket, and hotel booking on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose the printed copies, you can show the digital versions at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website (evisacameroon.com). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–7 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print at least two copies — one to keep with your passport, one as a backup. Also save a digital copy on your phone.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return ticket confirmation, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance docs. Keep them in a single folder.
4
Arrive at a Cameroon airport
You'll land at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport or Douala International Airport. Go to the immigration counter for foreign passports. Present your passport and printed eVisa. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready in case they ask.
