Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a Cuban tourist visa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal. Processing takes 5–10 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Havana Airport will stamp it on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Mozambique passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Cuba does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — your passport just needs to be valid for the duration of your trip.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cuba
Immigration officers at José Martí International Airport ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket before they let you through. Airlines also check this at check-in — have the booking confirmation ready on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel or casa particular booking
Carry a printed or digital confirmation of your first night's stay. Cuba's immigration officers rarely ask for it, but the airline might at check-in. A booking at a casa particular (private homestay) works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 500 CUP per day (roughly $20 USD). Officers rarely request this for short visits, but it helps if you're staying longer than two weeks.Recommended
eVisa required — apply before you fly
You cannot get a visa on arrival in Cuba. The eVisa must be approved before your departure. Airlines check this at check-in.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport photo, and booking confirmations on your phone and email. If you lose the printout, you can show the digital version.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cuban eVisa website and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and accommodation info. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes a few business days.
2
Receive your eVisa approval
You'll get an email with the approved eVisa. Print a copy and save a PDF on your phone. You'll show this at check-in and upon arrival in Cuba.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you leave, gather your passport (6+ months validity), printed eVisa, return ticket, accommodation booking, and insurance. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Havana Airport (or other entry point)
At immigration, present your passport and eVisa. They'll stamp your passport. Have your return ticket and accommodation address ready if asked. The process is usually quick.
