No eVisa — apply at the embassy/consulate
Mozambican citizens are NOT eligible for the UK's online visa system. You must apply through the standard route: online form, biometric appointment in Maputo, and a physical visa vignette in your passport. Do not use third-party websites that claim to offer 'eVisas' — they are scams.
Plan for the 3-week processing time
UKVI's standard processing time is 3 weeks, but it can stretch longer during busy periods. If you have a fixed travel date, apply at least 6–8 weeks in advance. There is no priority service in Maputo, so don't rely on last-minute options.
Transit passengers need a visa too
Even if you're just changing planes in the UK and staying airside, you need a Visitor in Transit visa. There is no exemption for Mozambican passport holders. Check your itinerary — if you have a layover in London, Manchester, or Edinburgh, you must have a visa before you board.

Pay the fee and book an appointment
Pay the £115 visa fee online. Then book a biometric appointment at the UK Visa Application Centre in Maputo. Appointments are usually available within a few days, but during peak seasons (summer, Christmas) slots fill up fast — book early.

Attend your biometric appointment
Go to the Visa Application Centre in Maputo on your scheduled date. Bring your printed appointment confirmation, your passport, and any documents you haven't uploaded. You'll give your fingerprints and have your photo taken. The staff will also check your documents.

Wait for a decision
After your appointment, your application is sent to the UKVI processing hub. Standard processing takes about 3 weeks, but it can take longer during busy periods. You can track your application online using the reference number from your appointment.

Receive your visa and travel
Once approved, you'll get a vignette (sticker) in your passport. Check that the dates and details are correct. When you arrive in the UK, go through the 'Other Passports' queue at border control. Have your passport and any supporting documents ready to show the Border Force officer.
