Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Mozambique passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Hong Kong. Hong Kong does not require 6 months of remaining validity for visa-free visits, but your airline might check for it at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Hong Kong
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this at the arrival hall.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their Hong Kong address covers this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Hong Kong doesn't publish a fixed minimum, but carrying around 3,000 HKD in cash or having a credit card with available balance shows you're not planning to work illegally. ATMs are everywhere in the city.Recommended
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Hong Kong. Airlines check this before boarding. If you're close to expiry, renew first.
No arrival card needed
Hong Kong scrapped arrival cards in 2023. You just present your passport at immigration. No forms to fill out.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for Hong Kong residents and visitors. Join the 'Visitors' queue.
2
Present your passport and documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly. They'll stamp you in for up to 14 days.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's nothing to declare for most travellers. Exit into the arrival hall.
