Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Uganda eVisa at the official portal at least 2 weeks before departure. The eVisa is valid for 90 days from issue and allows a single entry for up to 90 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6+ months validity
Your Mozambique passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Uganda. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Entebbe Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. Without it, you may be refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having this ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you have at least $300 USD for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to demonstrate you can cover expenses.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival
Mozambican passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival at Entebbe. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight. Airlines check this before issuing a boarding pass.
Passport validity counts from entry, not departure
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Uganda. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in the form, upload your passport photo and passport data page, and pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing takes 2–5 business days.
2
Receive approval PDF
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval. Print it or save it on your phone. Immigration at Entebbe will scan the barcode.
3
Arrive at Entebbe Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. Present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. They'll stamp you in — usually 30–60 seconds.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check (green channel for nothing to declare). Then you're out.
