Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Pakistan eVisa
Apply online at the Pakistan eVisa portal before travel. The visa is linked to your passport electronically. Processing takes 7–10 working days for most nationalities.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival in Pakistan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Pakistani airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Pakistan. Immigration may ask for it at the counter, especially if you are travelling alone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you can support yourself during your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
eVisa Only — No Visa on Arrival
Nigerian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Pakistan. You must apply and receive approval before you fly. Arriving without an eVisa means you'll be denied entry and sent back.
Passport Validity Counts from Entry Date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Pakistan, not from your departure date. If your passport expires in 5 months, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa Online
Go to the official Pakistan eVisa portal (visa.nadra.gov.pk). Fill in the application form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card.
2
Wait for Approval
Processing usually takes 3–5 working days, but can be longer during peak periods. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF. Print it and keep a digital copy on your phone.
3
Prepare Your Documents
Before you head to the airport, gather: your printed eVisa, passport (valid 6+ months), return ticket, hotel booking confirmation, and travel insurance if you have it. Save screenshots of everything on your phone.
4
Arrive at a Pakistani Airport
You'll land at one of the international airports: Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, or others. Follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' or 'eVisa' counters. Present your passport and eVisa. The officer will stamp you in.
5
Collect Your Baggage and Exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. Exit into the arrivals hall.
