Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Qatar eVisa through the Hukoomi portal at least a week before your flight. The process takes 3–5 business days and costs around QAR 200. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport to the airport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Nigerian passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Qatar. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Qatar
Immigration officers at Hamad International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready. Overstaying your visa carries a fine of QAR 200 per day.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or an invitation letter from your Qatari host. Immigration may ask for it at the counter, especially if you are traveling alone. A simple booking printout works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to at least QAR 1,000 per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to show you are not working illegally or relying on charity.Recommended
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Qatar. If it expires sooner, your eVisa will be rejected. Renew your passport first.
Keep digital copies handy
Save your eVisa PDF, return ticket, and hotel booking on your phone. Hamad International Airport has free Wi-Fi, but it's faster to have them ready offline.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Hukoomi portal (Qatar's official government services website). Fill in your details, upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-sized photo. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get the eVisa by email. Print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at the airline check-in counter and at immigration in Doha.
3

After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp your passport and you're in.
