What happens at the border

1
Get your visa invitation letter
Contact a Russian tour operator or book a hotel that provides invitation letters. This is the first step — you cannot apply without it. Expect to pay ₦15,000–₦30,000 and wait 3–7 days for the document.
2
Complete the online application
Go to evisa.kdmid.ru, fill in your details, upload your photo, and print the completed form. The system will give you a unique application ID — save it.
3
Submit your application in person
Visit the Russian Embassy in Abuja or the Consulate in Lagos. Bring your printed form, passport, photo, invitation letter, flight booking, and insurance. Pay the visa fee (around ₦25,000–₦50,000 depending on processing speed).
4
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 10–20 working days. You can pay extra for express (3–5 days) if available. You will be notified when your passport is ready for collection.
5
Arrive in Russia and go through immigration
At the airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. You will receive a migration card — keep the tear-off slip with your passport for the entire stay.
