Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Zimbabwe eVisa at www.evisa.gov.zw at least 3 business days before departure. The eVisa is a single-entry visa valid for up to 3 months. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6 months validity
Your Nigerian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Zimbabwe. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Harare and Victoria Falls airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel bookings or a letter of invitation from your host in Zimbabwe can speed up immigration. Officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or a credit card showing available funds. Immigration may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival for Nigerians
Nigerian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Zimbabwe. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight. Airlines check this before issuing a boarding pass.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Zimbabwe, not from your departure date. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Zimbabwe eVisa website (evisa.gov.zw). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–7 business days.
2
Receive eVisa approval
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval. Download and print a copy, or save it on your phone. Keep it with your passport.
3
Pack your documents
Before you leave, gather: printed eVisa, passport (6+ months validity), return ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance documents. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrival at Zimbabwe airport
At Harare or Victoria Falls airport, go to immigration. Present your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking. They'll stamp your passport — usually valid for up to 30 days.
