Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for your entire stay in the Czech Republic. Schengen rules don't require 6 months beyond departure, but your airline might enforce it — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen area
Immigration at Prague Airport will ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines check this before boarding too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Border officers rarely ask for it, but if they do, you need a printed or digital copy.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or cash equivalent to roughly €50 per day of your stay. Officers at Prague rarely check this for Dutch passport holders, but it's a legal requirement.Recommended
Schengen Area Rules
The Czech Republic is part of the Schengen Area. Your 90-day visa-free stay applies across all Schengen countries combined. If you've already spent time in other Schengen countries, that counts toward your 90-day limit.
Passport Validity is Strict
Immigration officers are strict about the 6-month passport validity rule. If your passport expires sooner, you risk being denied entry. Check your passport's expiry date well before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Prague Václav Havel Airport or other border
When you land, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (non-EU lanes if you're not an EU citizen, but as a Dutch national you use the EU/EEA lane). Have your passport ready. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport. If asked, show your return ticket and accommodation booking. The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date. This stamp is your proof of legal entry.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed
After passport control, go to baggage claim, then customs. There are no additional visa checks. You're free to enter the Schengen area.
