Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Jamaica. No minimum validity beyond your stay is required by Jamaican law, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Jamaica
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight within 90 days. Airlines at check-in also enforce this — if you don't have one, you may be denied boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a printed or digital hotel reservation, or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask, but if you're staying at a private residence, they may want to see the address and contact details.Recommended
Proof of funds
Evidence of sufficient money for your stay
Carry a bank statement, credit card, or cash showing you can cover your expenses. There's no fixed minimum, but having at least $100 USD per day in accessible funds will satisfy most officers.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Jamaica. Airlines check this before boarding — if you're short, you won't fly.
Keep your immigration stub
When you enter, immigration will give you a small paper stub. Don't lose it — you'll need to hand it back when you leave Jamaica.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Jamaican immigration
At Norman Manley International (Kingston) or Sangster International (Montego Bay), join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and accommodation address ready. The officer will stamp you in for up to 90 days.
2
Complete the immigration form
You'll receive a paper form on the plane or at the immigration hall. Fill it out with your flight number, passport details, and where you're staying. Keep the stub they give back — you'll need it when you leave.
3
Pass through customs
After immigration, collect your luggage and proceed to customs. Declare any goods over the duty-free limit. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods to declare.

No, if you're staying airside and your connecting flight departs within 12 hours, you don't need a visa. But if you need to clear immigration (e.g., to switch airports or overnight), you'll need to meet the visa-free entry requirements.
You'll be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry by Jamaican immigration. Renew your passport before you travel.
It's not a formal requirement, but if asked, be ready to show you have enough money for your stay — a credit card or a bank statement on your phone usually suffices.
No. The visa-free entry is for tourism only. Working remotely for a foreign employer is technically not allowed without a work permit. However, short-term digital nomad activities are generally tolerated if you don't interact with local clients.
Report the loss immediately to the nearest police station and get a police report. Then contact the Dutch embassy in Kingston (or the consulate in Montego Bay) to apply for an emergency travel document. This can take 1–3 working days.
No mandatory vaccines for Dutch travellers. But if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever, you'll need a vaccination certificate. Check the CDC or WHO website for current outbreak info.
