Valid passport
Netherlands passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Russia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Russian airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure within the eVisa's 16-day validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
You may be asked to show a hotel reservation or a Russian visa invitation (Visa Support Letter) at the border. Keep a printed confirmation handy — officers at SVO and DME check this regularly.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Officers can request proof you have enough money for your stay — roughly 500 RUB per day. A recent bank statement or credit card showing available balance works fine.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Russia, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save screenshots of your eVisa, return ticket, and hotel booking on your phone. Also print paper copies — phone batteries die and screens break.

Frequently asked questions

Processing takes up to 4 calendar days, but it's wise to apply at least 2 weeks before your trip to account for delays. You'll get an email when it's approved.
No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave Russia by the 16th day. If you need a longer stay, you'll need a different visa type (e.g., tourist visa) applied for at a Russian embassy.
Your hotel or host is required to register you with the local migration authorities within 7 days of your arrival. You don't need to do anything yourself — just provide your passport at check-in.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your photo doesn't meet requirements or your passport has less than 6 months validity. You can reapply with corrected information. There's no appeal process.
Yes, the eVisa is valid for entry at all international airports in Russia. You can also enter via land borders, but check the official list of approved border crossings on the eVisa website.
If you're staying airside and not passing through passport control, you don't need a visa. But if you leave the transit zone or have a layover longer than 24 hours, you'll need the eVisa or a transit visa.
It's not always checked at immigration, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in Russia can be very high, and insurance covers hospital stays, evacuation, and trip disruptions.
