What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Kigali International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. There's a dedicated counter before the main passport control queue.
2
Fill out the visa application form
You'll receive a short form on arrival. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and accommodation address. A pen is handy.
3
Pay the visa fee
Hand over USD 30 (cash) at the payment window. They may accept euros or Rwandan francs, but US dollars are easiest. Keep the receipt.
4
Receive your visa sticker
The officer will paste a visa sticker into your passport. Check the validity dates before walking away.
5
Proceed to passport control
Join the main immigration queue. Present your passport with the visa sticker, your boarding pass, and any requested documents (return ticket, accommodation).
6
Collect your luggage and exit
After the stamp, head to baggage claim, then customs. The whole process usually takes 20–40 minutes.
