Immigration officers at Lomé Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot on your phone showing your flight out of Togo within the eVisa validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Togo. Officers sometimes ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended

Show you can support yourself
Have a recent bank statement or a credit card ready. Officers may ask to see you have at least $500 USD equivalent for a short stay.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory
You must show your yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport for around €30. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport photo, return ticket, and accommodation booking in a cloud folder (Google Drive, iCloud). If your phone is lost or stolen, you can still access them from any device.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around €50–€80 depending on processing speed). Processing usually takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive a PDF approval by email.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Print a paper copy and also save the PDF on your phone. At Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW), immigration officers will ask to see it before they stamp your passport.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. Keep them together in a folder or a clear phone folder — you'll hand them over at the immigration desk.
4
Go through immigration at Lomé Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Hand over your passport, eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will check, stamp, and return your documents. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Standard processing takes 2–5 business days. There's also an express option (24–48 hours) that costs more — around €80 instead of €50. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe.
No. Togo no longer issues visas on arrival for Dutch passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight. Airlines check this before letting you check in.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your photo doesn't meet requirements or your passport is too close to expiry. You'll get an email explaining the reason. You can reapply with corrected info — you won't lose the fee if it's a simple fix. If in doubt, contact the Togolese embassy in Brussels.
Yes. Togo requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers over 1 year old. You'll need to show your International Certificate of Vaccination (the yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (which costs around €30).
No. The eVisa is not extendable. If you want to stay longer, you'll need to leave Togo and reapply for a new eVisa. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
You can buy a SIM at the airport (Togocom or Moov) or use an eSIM like Airalo — it activates the moment you land. A physical SIM at the airport costs about 5,000 XOF (€7.50) for 1GB. eSIMs are more convenient if you want data immediately without queuing.
Togo is generally safe for tourists, especially in Lomé and along the coast. Petty crime like pickpocketing happens in markets and bus stations. Avoid walking alone at night in unfamiliar areas. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs rates Togo as 'yellow' (be vigilant) — check their travel advice before you go.
