Dutch passport holders can enter Ukraine without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This visa-free arrangement is in place for tourism, business, or family visits. As of 2026, make sure your passport meets the validity requirements and you have a return ticket handy.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid only for the period you plan to stay in Ukraine. Airlines may still ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Immigration officers at Kyiv Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave within 90 days.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Border officers occasionally ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least $50 USD per day of your stay. Officers rarely check this for Dutch passport holders, but it's safer to have it ready.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Airlines check this at check-in, and border guards check it again. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied travel.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save screenshots of your passport, return ticket, accommodation booking, and insurance on your phone. If you lose your documents, these copies help at the embassy or police.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date), book your return/onward ticket, and arrange accommodation for your first night. Save screenshots of everything on your phone.
2
Arrive at the airport and check in
At check-in, the airline will verify your passport validity and may ask for your return ticket. Have your booking confirmations ready.
3
Go through Ukrainian border control
At Kyiv Boryspil, Lviv, or any other airport, join the 'All Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and be ready to answer questions about your stay (purpose, duration, where you're staying). The officer will stamp your passport.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, pick up your bags from the carousel and walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare.
