Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Get a visa on arrival at Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet airports. Pay the fee in USD or EUR — bring cash, no card accepted. Have a printed copy of your hotel booking and return ticket ready at the visa counter.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Norwegian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Bangladesh. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration at Dhaka airport asks for a confirmed onward or return ticket before issuing the visa on arrival. Budget airlines flying into Bangladesh enforce this strictly — have the booking confirmation ready on your phone or printed.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Bangladesh. Immigration officers at the visa on arrival counter ask for this — a booking confirmation email works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration rarely asks, but having it avoids delays at the visa on arrival counter.Recommended
Cash only — no cards
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in cash, preferably USD. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need the visa first. Bring exact change if possible.
Visa on arrival is for airports only
This facility is only available at international airports. If you're entering Bangladesh by land from India or Myanmar, you must have a visa issued in advance.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport
Fly into Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, or Shah Amanat International Airport (CGP) in Chittagong. The visa on arrival counter is clearly signposted after baggage claim.
2
Fill out the visa application form
Pick up a form at the counter. It asks for basic info: name, passport number, flight details, hotel address. Fill it in clearly — use block capitals.
3
Pay the visa fee
Pay in USD cash (around $50 for a 30-day single entry). Have exact change if possible. Some counters accept euros or pounds, but USD is easiest.
4
Submit documents and get visa
Hand over your passport, completed form, and payment. The officer will process it — usually takes 10–15 minutes. You'll get a sticker in your passport. Keep the receipt.
5
Proceed to immigration
With the visa sticker, go to the immigration queue. Show your passport and boarding pass. You're in.
