Bhutan entry requirements for Norway passport holders
Norwegian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Bhutan. The eVisa is linked to a pre-booked tour package — independent travel is not allowed. You must apply through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator, who handles the visa process for you. This system has been in place since 2023.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| eVisa application e-Permit | Apply for the Bhutan e-Permit at bhutan.travel/e-permit before you fly. You need a confirmed tour booking with a licensed Bhutanese tour operator — independent travel is not allowed. The permit is linked to your passport and covers your entire stay.Apply for eVisa | Required |
| Valid passport Must be valid for entire stay | Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Bhutan. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Bhutan immigration, but your airline may enforce 6 months — check with them before you fly. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Required for entry | Immigration at Paro Airport checks for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready. Bhutan does not allow entry without a pre-booked departure flight. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Tour operator handles this | Your licensed tour operator arranges all accommodation as part of your package. You do not need to show hotel bookings separately — your e-Permit and tour itinerary serve as proof. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Minimum daily package | Bhutan requires a minimum daily spend of $200–$250 per person (depending on season), which covers accommodation, meals, transport, and guide. Your tour operator collects this upfront — carry a copy of the payment receipt. | Recommended |

Transiting through Bhutan
Norway passport holders transiting through Bhutan's only international airport (Paro) do not require a transit visa if staying airside and not passing through immigration. However, due to limited flights, most transits require overnight stays and thus a visa.
- Holders of a valid visa for India, Bangladesh, or Nepal may transit without visa for up to 24 hours.
